Persia, the birthplace of the Oriental rug, was once a powerful empire that stood at the crossroads of Eastern and Western civilizations. As the world entered the 16th century, Persia entered its modern age with the advent of the Safavid dynasty. The new dynasty also brought with them the 'golden age' of rug weaving in Persia. 'Weaving centers' in cities like Kirman, Isfahan, Kashan, Tabriz, and Herat were getting established. As rug making in large cities prospered, small villages and traveling nomads were also started making their own mark. Each Persian rug became uniquely linked to the indigenous culture, weaving techniques, specific geographic area or nomadic tribe. For instance, the nomadic (tribal) rugs formed their own tradition of angular designs in bold as well as somber colors. Based on the weaving tribe, for example, the southern Persian Kashkayi rugs were represented in diamond-shaped medallion(s) on detailed background of geometric flowers in reddish browns and blues.

A nomadic masterpiece defined by its durability in use and simplicity in style, this authentic Persian Lori Rug is hand knotted of luxurious Persian wool with vegetable dyes. Known for its versatility in blending with any type of dcor, make this rug apart of your home.
